Having Fun: Sail Away

Living an independent and accessible life is not just about getting things done, but it is about living life. One great way to have fun that I found is to go sailing. Shake a Leg of Miami has handicap accessible sailing and boating. Shake a Leg of Miami is a non profit organization that teaches persons with disabilities how to sail. The sail boats are designed to specifically to be accessible and not cap size. They also have a pontoon boat that you can drive your wheelchair right onto. I went a while back and had a great time. They take you out just past Dinner Key to a private island that they run. Once a month they offer Community Bay Day where they are open to the public. I highly recommend you go whether or not you have a disability as it great way to relax and live a little bit.
